There are two ways to build a program for a client. You can assign them an already build 'Master Program', or can you build them an individualized program. This article will walk you through the steps to build a client an individualized program.
Step 1: From the Client Page, find the client you wish to build a program for and click on the 'Create Program'.
Step 2: Fill in the details for you clients Program. You will be able to choose a program image from the Virtfit library, or upload your own. You will be able to edit program length/sessions once your program has been set up. Click 'Create Program'.
Note: On your clients onboarding form, they were asked how many sessions per week they would like in their program. This information can be found on their Client Dashboard under 'Client Notes.'
Step 3: Here you will be taken to the Client Program Builder page. Here you will be able to Import a Master Program into your Clients Program Builder, Create Sessions or Import Saved Session. In this article we will be showing you how to create a program from start to finish.
Note: If you click on your clients name, a dropdown will appear with your clients details. Here you will be able to see their Goals, Limitations/Injuries, any Coach Notes you have written on them - this also includes questions from their onboarding, and any Equipment Notes (Personal Trainer / Online plan).
Step 4: Click the 'Create Session' button, here you will be taken to the Client Workout Builder Page. In the filter, if you are on a Personal Trainer / Online plan, you will be able to see your clients name and select from the equipment that they have access to. If you are on the Gym / Studio plan, you will be able to see the Branch/Gym name that your client is assigned to. This makes it easy to program using only the equipment your client has access to.
Step 5: From the ‘Workout Builder Page’, first select the template from the 5 options that you wish to start your program with. Your template options are;
- Warm up
- Single Exercise
- Superset / Circuit
- AMRAP
- Intervals
- Cool Down
Step 6: Select a Template: Single Exercise
In the pop up box, enter the prescribed numbers for the program variables for the template you have selected and select ‘Create’. The template is created and now you can drag and drop your prescribed exercises into the empty boxes of the template.
To search for an exercise, in the search bar on the left side of the screen, type in the name of your exercise then press enter, or use the filter to find a specific exercise.
Step 7: Once an exercise is inserted, select ‘Instruction Select’ from the top of the template then choose the training variable you are prescribing (reps, time, distance etc).

Step 8: Fill in the data for set 1, this number will be auto populated for every set for this exercise but can also be edited. You can also add rest periods for each set in the column next to your instruction.
Step 9: If you want the client to record what they achieved for that exercise, tick the ‘Client to record data’ box at the bottom of the exercise template. Then you will select the box of what variable you would like them to record eg; weight, distance, time etc. If the exercise doesn't require any data to be recorded, leave ‘Client to record data’ box unticked.

Step 10: Complete the template by adding all exercises, their prescribed training variables and whether or not the client will be recording their efforts for that exercise.
Step 11: Continue to add templates to your program until it is complete then scroll to the top of the screen to select ‘Save’ in the top right corner of the screen. If you would like to a quick view of your session, go to the eye icon in the top right of the page.
This session will now be saved, repeat the process for the remaining days of the training program.
Step 12: There are two options for creating a program, you can create individulized sessions for each session within the program, or you can create one weeks worth of sessions and 'Duplicate'.
Individualized Sessions
Create Week 1 of your program, and to set up your second week, click the '+ Week' button at the bottom left of your first week of sessions.
Duplicate Program
Once you have created Week 1 of your program, you can select the 'Duplicate' toggle at the bottom of Week 1. This will repeat this week for the complete length of the client's program (specified number of weeks). This is commonly known as a 'Training Cycle' or a 'Program Cycle'. To learn more about Duplicate Program, please read this article. By Duplicating a program, you will turn on the softwares Program Data functionality.
Step 13: Your program is now complete, select ‘Save’ in the top right of the screen. The program will be uploaded to your clients profile and apps and will instantly be ready for them to begin.
